A new website provides a one-stop location for high school students and educators to learn about dual credit opportunities at community colleges.
The site also provides a list of all academic and career/technical courses.
The website, called Dual Credit Texas (www.dualcredittexas.org), is sponsored by the Texas Association of Community Colleges and the Virtual College of Texas.
It's the latest collaborative endeavor of the member colleges of the association, including Victoria College. The Dual Credit Texas VC's homepage (www.victoriacollege.edu/dualcredit) also provides information on dual credit classes at the college.
"Getting an early start in college enhances all the benefits of attending community college, including affordability and getting a degree faster," said Melissa Robinson, director of Pre-College Programs at Victoria College. "We are excited to help launch Dual Credit Texas in an effort to better connect high school students to exploring and taking advantage of all their options."
Courses offered for dual credit are the result of an agreement between high schools and community colleges where a high school junior or senior can take a college course and earn both high school and college credit at the same time for that course.
