SXSW is under way in Austin. The conferences and festivals bring together the worlds of music, film and technology.
There is still plenty of time to head to the capital city and check out some great shows and events.
For all the fans of electronic dance music, don't miss the Beatport showcase Thursday at The Parish, 214-C E. 6th St. The lineup includes DJ's DATAROCK, Sasha, Afrojack, Calvin Harris, Marco Carola and Richie Hawtin.
Across town at The Phoenix, 409 Colorado. Grammy-award winning DJ Benny Benassi shares the stage with Wolfgang Gartner and Unicorn Kid.
If you're more into the live band scene, then check out the man responsible for "Eff You." Cee Lo Greene with Wiz Khalifa and Lupe Fiasco at La Zone Rosa, 612 W. 4th St. and one of my faves, The Strokes, Thursday night at Auditorium Shores Stage (Lady Bird Lake) plus Blue October with Bowling For Soup on Friday night.
Also on Friday, fans of urban and hip-hop music head to Venue 222, 222 E. 6th St., for Vibe Magazine's showcase featuring DJ Quik, The Dogg Pound, Slaughterhouse, EPMD and Big Sean.
You can also catch the band Neon Trees at an in-store appearance Saturday at Waterloo Records, 600 A. N. Lamar St. The band will be there at 4 p.m. before heading to Emo's, 603 Red River St., later that night. For a complete listing of SXSW events, check out the website at http://sxsw.com/.
