The Victoria Advocate Taste of Home Cooking School promises an evening of fun for both experienced foodies and for anyone who's ever burned a family dinner.

The cooking school, presented by The Cooking Depot in Cuero, attracted more than 800 participants last year, with its local and regional exhibitors, food sampling, wine tasting, door prizes and cooking demonstrations. The event also offers free goody bags and a free Taste of Home magazine subscription to all participants.

Tickets are currently on sale and are expected to sell out.

General seating tickets are on sale for $13.50.

Reserved seating tickets, which entitle purchasers to a front-and-center view of a culinary specialist demonstrating cooking tips and tricks sell for $45.

Or, for the best seat in the house, enter the Ashley Homestore Furniture raffle, which offers a comfortable furniture grouping from which to watch the demonstrations. Those tickets run for $5 or five tickets for $20.

To secure your family's, friends' and your own spot in the crowd, come to the Advocate at 311 E. Constitution St., Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. or head to The Cooking Depot at 202 S. Esplanade St. in Cuero, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., or Saturday 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Tickets can also be reserved by calling 361-575-1451 or going to www.VictoriaAdvocate.com/tasteofhome.
