One man was taken to the hospital after he was struck by a truck on Laurent Street about 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Terry Martinez, 20, of Victoria, was walking on Laurent Street to his place of employment at Texas Drive Inn, 3701 N. Ben Wilson St., when a Chevrolet pickup stopped at a stop sign then proceeded to strike Martinez, said Officer Shane Wallace, with the Victoria Police Department.
Martinez reported becoming upset at the driver and told him to leave, Wallace said. The driver left the scene.
The victim could not provide the exact location of the incident, but said it was near the Salvation Army, Wallace said.
Another vehicle picked up Martinez and drove him to Texas Drive Inn, where they called police, Wallace said.
Martinez reported the tire of the truck had ended up on top of his leg. He was transported to Citizens Medical Center, Wallace said.
Witnesses provided the truck's license plate number, and officers were attempting to locate the driver Friday afternoon.
