Victoria Advocate claims 19 state awards, including 2 'Star' honors

The Victoria Advocate won 19 awards, including seven first-place honors, at the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors' annual convention Saturday in Tyler.

Former creative services director Ryan Huddle won Class AAA Star Designer of the Year for his imaginative layouts and design work. Huddle also received individual and team recognition for his designs. Along with Star Designer of the Year, the Advocate staff received second place in the Star Breaking News Report of the Year.
