Palestine Missionary Baptist Church and Texas City-based Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church will host a collaborative Easter pageant, "Hosanna, Son of God," on April 8.

Beginning in the Gospel of Luke, the musical and dramatic production will focus on the life of Jesus through His resurrection.

"Hopefully, it will set the tone for what the true Easter season is all about," Palestine Rev. G.O. Wyatt said.

Directed by the Rev. D.N. Benford, of Rising Star, and co-directed by Oscar Hernandez, the pageant is an original of Benford's, who is credited with writing the musical score and script.

A total of three productions will be shown in April; the first at Palestine on April 8, and two performances at Rising Star on April 15 and April 16.

There is no cost to attend the pageant, and Wyatt invites all members of the Christian community to take part in the Easter production.

Palestine continues to search for cast members interested in taking part in the production. If interested, rehearsals will be at the church from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
