Best Bakery: Halepaska's Bakery

Since its founding in 1953 by Ann Halepaska, Halepaska's Bakery has served baked goods with a clear, albeit lighthearted, motto: Eat dessert first. Life is uncertain.

"We have fun, but don't get me wrong," said Tom Halepaska, the bakery's co-owner. "We get up early, work hard, stay late. I think getting voted Best Bakery might be a recognition

that we try hard to put out good products."

Those products include 24 cookie varieties, breakfast savories and cakes. Whether

you like sugar cookies, sausage rolls or custom,

decorated cakes, Halepaska said his bakery offers something for everyone.

"We pride ourselves on our service," Halepaska, who is a certified master of baking, said. "We do a lot of customer service training. I would suspect a customer would find a lot of items they like."

In addition to selling desserts and other baked goods, both Victoria locations also serve soup, salads and sandwiches.
