Best Volunteer: Gary Moses

Gary Moses isn't one of those people you'll find taking a lazy day at home on the weekends or dropping to the couch once his workday has ended. No, he's more likely to be on his way to a nonprofit organization, a charity event or the like to see how he can donate his time.

"I like being active," he said. "I get a good feeling from helping others."

The Victoria native was voted best Crossroads volunteer.

Moses said he appreciated the recognition, but said other people are equally worthy.

"A lot of people do great things in this town," said the man who also works in public relations for Citizens Medical Center. "It just humbles you to know that people think of you like that."

Although Moses, 61, spends time with many nonprofit organizations, he said he doesn't have a favorite.

"I love them all and it's hard to pick," he said. "I guess you could say they're all my favorites."
