Best Elected Official: Sheriff T. Michael O'Connor

T. Michael O'Connor is just T. Michael O'Connor before he's Victoria County Sheriff - that's what makes him a likely choice for best elected official.

O'Connor has served as sheriff for seven years and his job is all about the people.

"My biggest focal point is to champion for those who are not able to champion for themselves," he said. "This gives me the opportunity to do what's right."

O'Connor only leads the charge, really, his office deserves to be voted in as well; it's very much a group win, he said.

"I would vote my office over and above myself. They're out there everyday. Their professionalism reflect on the office as a whole," O'Connor said.

O'Connor isn't exactly sure what makes him the best elected official according to Advocate readers, but he's happy for the win.

"I would take that as a vote of confidence," he said. "I would think they feel they're confident in what I'm doing and where I'm going in regards to the office of the sheriff and the transparency."
