Best Fishing Spot: Port O'Connor

Whether fishing on a pier, or out on a boat, Port O'Connor offers locals and tourists alike a superior fishing experience. Redfish trout, and shrimp are some of the fishing favorites in Port O'Connor, and there's plenty of businesses nearby that sell bait and supplies for the convenience of fishermen.

"It's just a quaint little fishing village. It's close to the Gulf and it's nice here," Mary Jo Walker, co-owner of Beacon 44 Seafood Market, said.

Walker, who owns Beacon 44 with her husband, Doug Walker, said Port O'Connor attracts fishermen from all areas of South Texas including Austin, San Antonioand Houston.

"It's right in the middle of fishing tourism. Most people who come here are returning guests, and a lot of them have weekend homes here."
