The city of Victoria is investigating a claim of sexual harassment in the fire department.

"There is an internal investigation under way into possible employee misconduct," said city spokesman O.C. Garza. "We cannot comment until this investigation is formally concluded and all the facts have been determined and assessed. We must follow due process."

"We expect this investigation to be completed by the end of this week," Garza said. "When the investigation is concluded, we will release the pertinent information."

Greg Mitchell, president of the local Victoria Professional Firefighters Association, said the firefighters involved in the case are not members of the association.

"Really, as far as the association goes, we're not going to have anything to do with it or have any comment," Mitchell said.

Garza would not elaborate on how the complaint was filed or the process for the investigation.
