Decora Study Club hosts meeting

The Decora Study Club met at the Women's Club House on March 22.

Jo Cornstubble, serving as program chairman of the day, introduced Dr. Tom Butler, president of Victoria College, who presented an informative program titled, "Enriching Life with Education." He traced the history of a college education from 1700s to present day, reported on the job market and the current education needs in the Victoria area. A 6 percent growth in enrollment at Victoria College was noted.

Following the discussion, several members of Decora expressed interest in a continuing education program for Seniors over 50. A list of members interested in seeing a program developed in this area was generated. A donation was made in Butler's honor to the Victoria College Foundation.

Following the program, Jackie Frietz, standing in for President Lillian Alex, welcomed the members. The pledge to the American flag was led by Jane Cox; the pledge to the Texas flag by Pat McDonald and the Collect was by Martha Jones.

Bonnie Peterson introduced Betty Marr who gave the federation report on First Lady Dolly Madison.

The minutes were read by Carol Moore and approved as read. Linda Johnson gave the treasurer's report. Doretta Keith reported on the spring trip to take place by chartered bus to Gruene on April 12. Two new members were elected to membership, Mary Ann Wright and Jan Kooiman.

The district meeting, hosted by Victoria clubs, was at the Victoria Women's Club House on Saturday, March 26.

Serving on the social committee were Ann Heinrich, Leita LePorti and Kathy Ahlstrom. Hostess for the day was Zada Watkins.
