More volunteers than ever are expected to turn out to Keep Victoria Beautiful's Clean Sweep of the Inwood Terrace Neighborhood on Saturday.
"I feel like the partnerships we've made with schools, organizations and clubs ... resulted in more volunteers choosing to participate in Keep Victoria Beautiful," said Thomas Yantis, executive director of organization.
The volunteers will sweep through the neighborhood of about 475 homes, picking up waste items from residents' homes and yards. People in the neighborhood are encouraged to leave their items on the curb to be picked up by the volunteers.
The service is part of the Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off, Texas' largest annual one-day cleanup event, also on Saturday.
That event is a partnership between Keep Texas Beautiful and the Texas Department of Transportation.
The state and local participation are also part of the national Keep America Beautiful organization and its campaign, Great American Cleanup.
The national cleanup is from March 1 to May 31, coinciding with Earth Day on April 22.
"(Keep Victoria Beautiful) benefits from these parent organizations," Yantis said.
