The Texas Department of Public Safety recovered a stolen tractor that was being hauled on a trailer on U.S. Highway 77 about 2 p.m. Friday.

Sgt. Cory Ledbetter and Trooper Louie Verdeja pulled over a Ford F-150 hauling the trailer and tractor on suspicion of equipment violations about 10 miles south of Victoria, said Trooper Gerald Bryant, DPS public information officer.

After noticing indicators of criminal activity, the troopers checked the tractor's identification number, which indicated it had been reported stolen Thursday in Grimes County, which is just north of Houston.

Troopers estimated the 2010 Kubota tractor to be worth about $25,000, Bryant said.

Troopers were interviewing a 46-year-old man and 46-year-old woman from Tomball and a 44-year-old woman from Cypress on Friday evening to determine their roles in the theft, Bryant said.
