Victoria resident Troy Howard, 74, and an Air Force veteran, stands with the high school diplomas for him and his late twin brother, Roy, at the Clovis High School commencement ceremony in Clovis, New Mexico.

It may have taken Troy Howard 58 years to receive his high school diploma, but at least he was first in line for his graduation ceremony.

"I was elated. I got a good reception and it was wonderful," said Howard, 74, and a longtime Victoria resident.

The Air Force veteran along with about 350 Clovis High School students received their diplomas Saturday in Clovis, N.M. He also received the diploma for his late twin brother, Roy.

Howard was given a place on stage, where he sat dressed in Roy's uniform, who joined the Air Force with him in 1952 when they were 16 and in the ninth grade.

What are his career plans?

"Well, I think I'll go to college," Howard joked. He quickly added, "No, I think I've had enough school."
