Two men were hospitalized after a two-car wreck on Odem and South Laurent streets at 5:06 p.m. Tuesday.

Sammy Gamez, 41, and Benito Hernandez, 52, of both Bloomington, were taken to Citizens Medical Center.

Gamez was taking Hernandez to the hospital because of a previous injury to his finger, said Senior Patrol Officer Z.D. DeLaRosa. Gamez was driving his GMC pickup truck north on Laurent when he collided with Desirae Martinez's Chevrolet Cavalier.

Martinez, 20, of Victoria, failed to stop at the stop sign on Odem, said DeLaRosa. She was later cited for failure to yield.

As of 6:30 p.m., both men were being evaluated in the emergency room and listed in stable condition, a hospital spokesman said.

The two passengers with Martinez did not have any visible injuries, the officer said.
