San Antonio River influences the Goliad area

Goliad State Park is presenting the second annual Rio Rio event on Saturday.

Aspects of the the natural resources of the San Antonio River and demonstrations of cultural history will be presented at booths set up in the Goliad State Park.

The cultural demonstrations will include fabric dying, leather working, candle making, pottery and blacksmithing.

Vendors also will show the natural resources of the river that drew the settlers to the area, including the types of fish found in the river and the animals native to the park.

The event will also raise awareness of recreational activities available at the Goliad State Park such as camping, kayaking and biking in addition to touring the mission.

Visitors are encouraged also to visit the Presidio La Bahia - across the highway from the park. The Spanish fort has its museum and historic grounds to explore.
