Victoria police chief to make 'first drop in bucket' for Salvation Army's 2011 Kettle campaign

Victoria Police Chief JJ Craig will officially start the Salvation Army's 2011 Christmas Kettle campaign at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Walmart SuperCenter, 9002 N. Navarro St., Victoria.
Craig, who has been police chief in Victoria since August, will make the symbolic "first drop in the bucket" to begin the 2011 campaign, according to a news release from the Salvation Army.
The goal for the Kettle Campaign is $75,000.
The local Salvation Army is committed to assisting eligible families that have applied for assistance with a Christmas food basket as well as toys and clothing for the children.
The public is invited to the kickoff ceremony.
