Theatre Victoria will host open auditions at 10 a.m. Saturday.

People of all ages are encouraged to attend, whether they are an actor, singer, dancer, musician, stage manager or technology driven.

The premise behind the open audition is to help identify the talent available so the theater can expand its programming by offering Tony Award winning shows, regional premiers, as well as enriching opportunities for local and regional artists, said Whitney Zangarine, volunteer coordinator.

Participants will have an opportunity to meet Executive Director Staci Robbins, audition for various roles, and interview with theater members to express interest in various backstage production.

"We want everyone to come, so we can get a feel for the theater community," Zangarine said.

There are two shows left in the 2011-2012 season, the musical, "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," and the comedy "Lend Me a Tenor."

The weekend auditions will also help the theater prepare next season's show lineup, she said.

Those wanting to audition for acting roles should prepare a brief monologue or refer to the suggestions at

Singers should prepare a song of their choice showing vocal range. They should also bring sheet music in their key. Vocal books also will be available at the theater.
