Victoria Toys for Tots is bringing Christmas to the Crossroads. For families that may not be able to purchase gifts for the holiday season, the U.S. Marines Corps Reserve-based organization is collecting new, unwrapped toys to distribute to children until Christmas.

Eli Sauseda, Victoria Toys for Tots coordinator and Faith Family Church's adult ministries pastor, said about 125 area retail stores, businesses, churches and organizations have already partnered to ensure the success of this year's toy drive.

"We represent all seven counties, so you can register even if you live outside Victoria," Sauseda said. "And you can donate toys up until Christmas Eve."

Children ages 0-12 can be registered to receive the toys through Monday. Children do not have to be present for parents to register their child, but only a legal guardian can complete the registration form. Birth certificates and a Social Security card, or student ID are required for each child.

Registration forms are available through Victoria school district, and children outside the Victoria school system can register at KIDZ Connection, Faith Family Church, or Victoria TV Group.

The "Healthy Christmas Toy Drive" will be at all four Victoria Walgreen's stores from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday and a "Stuff the Truck" event will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 9-10 at H-E-B Plus and H-E-B Rio Grande for those interested in dropping off toys. Tots for Toys requests contributed gifts meet at least a $7 value.

Presents will be distributed at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at Faith Family Church warehouse.

"The goal is to get the presents to the kids and under the Christmas tree by Christmas morning," Sauseda said. "If the presents can't be picked up, we'll deliver them."

Last year, the 64-year-old Toys for Tots provided about 3,200 children with Christmas toys.

EDIT: The Toys for Tots fundraiser at the four Victoria Walgreens is planned for Friday and Saturday. The dates were incorrect on Page B3 Thursday.
