Victoria man to be tried on sexual assault charges

A Victoria man faces charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child in a trial scheduled to begin Tuesday.
Raymond Trent Peterek, 44 is charged with three counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault. Peterek was indicted on the charges in March.
Between 1990 and 2004, Peterek had sexual contact with two girls who were younger than 14 years of age, according to the indictment.
Peterek has a previous criminal history.
In December 1995, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault, for which he received one year probation, 90 days in county jail, 100 hours community service and mandatory anger management classes.
In addition to other convictions for issuance of a bad check and theft by check, Peterek was also the losing party in two civil cases.
Peterek is represented by defense attorney Jane Lane.
Victoria County Assistant District Attorney Johna Stallings is prosecuting the case.
The trial is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. in Judge Robert Cheshire's courtroom.
