Runners have another chance to get out and race at the POC Style 5K on Saturday morning in Port O'Connor.

Natasha Helm, the event coordinator, was looking for a way to bring people to Port O'Connor during the winter months when she decided to hold a 5K. Helm, a professional event planner, started putting together the 5K in July.

"There are a lot of runners in Port O'Connor and Victoria and we thought it would be a good way to get people to come down. We called it POC Style 5K because Port O'Connor has a style all it's own," Helm said.

The Dolphin Run Kids K will be at 8:15 a.m. The 5K run and walk starts at 8:45 a.m.

Each runner will be timed by barcode and the course will be monitored by the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department, Helm said.

The event begins at King Fisher Beach, and proceeds from the race go to benefit the Port O'Connor Chamber of Commerce.

Registration will be between 7-8 a.m. Saturday. Participants may also register and pick up their packets from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Josie's Cantina, 610 Adams St., Port O'Connor.

"It's just to support the community and the local businesses to keep Port O'Connor going through the winter months," she said.
