Calhoun County Fair kicks off with a parade

The Calhoun County Fair kicks off with a parade on Saturday morning in Port Lavaca.
The fair opens Tuesday at the Calhoun County Fair Grounds and attractions will be featured throughout the week including pony rides, an exotic petting zoo, a hypnotist and musical entertainment.
Beginning 7 a.m. Wednesday, swine, goats, fryers, steers, rabbits, lambs and goats will be sifted and weighed in for judging in the 2011 Calhoun County Fair Junior Livestock Show. Judging begins at 5 p.m.
The livestock auction begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
The carnival opens at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Daily admission to the fair is $3 for adults, $1 for students and free for children 4 years old and under.
Season passes are $10 for adults and $4 for students.
Fair food and other arts and crafts exhibits are featured throughout the day.
The grounds close at 11 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
