Join us at 5:30 p.m. today for a community session

Oct. 10, 2011 at 5:10 a.m.

Speaking out remains one of our most-cherished freedoms. At the Advocate, we strive to be the voice of the community. The best way we can do that is to help you be your own Advocate.

That is why we have scheduled a series of educational sessions designed to show you the many ways you can contribute content to your newspaper and website.

Our upcoming session will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Oct. 11. In this session, community conversation editor Tim Delaney will cover letters to the editor, guest columns and other opinion page items.

Our following session will be at the same time Oct. 24. In this session, Advocate Interactivity Editor Jessica Puente will will give information about the Advocate website: how to use the tools, including blogs, Facebook, twitter, sending letters to the editor, thumbs and more. All community sessions will be at the Advocate, 311 E. Constitution St. Light refreshments will be served.

If you have any questions about the event, contact Editor Chris Cobler, 361-574-1322, or
