GANADO - Hamilton Loomis met Bo Diddley when he was 16 years old.

The two even shared a stage.

The rhythm and blues icon mentored the Galveston native and told him, "You gotta innovate, not imitate."

Loomis will perform Thursday evening at the Rear Window Listening Room in Ganado. He wants to appeal across generations.

"I have an old soul for music, but I'm in the new school of thought as it pertains to moving music forward," he said.

The 30-something-musician said live music gives the audience another way to connect to the sound.

"A live show shouldn't be just about the listening to music, but experiencing it," he said.
