Victoria College is commemorating the 150th anniversary of America's bloodiest war with a three-day conference.

"The Civil War in Texas: Changing Interpretations after 150 Years" conference will host scholars and lecturers who will discuss how the war impacted South Texas and political sentiments in the late 1800s.

Lecture topics include "Standing in the Shadows: The Innocent Victims of the War," "Texas Women in the Civil War Era," "Victoria Units That Served in the War" and "German Loyalty." VC also will welcome its second Lyceum Lecture Series speaker, Terry Alford.
