Continued economic tough times have Affectionate Arms Adult Day Care hobbling and on bended knee.

"I hope the community will come through like it always has and support us to keep the program going," said Mary Garcia, facility director.

Affectionate Arms Adult Day Care Center will hold a fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Siesta Restaurant, 2505 Houston Highway.

A plate of carne guisada, rice and beans will be served for take out only at $7 per plate.

Orders of 10 or more plates can be delivered, said Garcia.

"Come pick up your plates, and we will be very happy," said Garcia, who added that the facility is struggling to remain open given the economy and funding that too often trickles in.

Affectionate Arms, 3802 John Stockbauer Drive, opened in 1990 providing a place for adults to spend their days with activities and services designed especially for them.

It is licensed for 59 clients, said Garcia.
