Those who want to do a little running as they gear up for Halloween can register for the Monster Dash in the morning.
The all-day event features a 5K Monster Dash run and walk at 8 a.m with registration at 7 a.m. The 5K is sponsored by the Port Lavaca Chamber of Commerce.
"We try to several events throughout the year for kids in the community and we wanted to give them a safe environment to do come out and have some fun," Jasmine Gordon, public relations director for Calhoun Airport, said.
There will be face painting, bobbing for apples, various children's games and a toy walk during the day. Kids can pick out their own pumpkins from a pumpkin patch and carve and decorate it.
Large pumpkins are $5 each and small pumpkins are $2. Any pumpkins leftover will be sold Sunday for $1.
Costumes are encouraged. Children will have the chance to put on their costumes and do some trick-or-treating at the airport from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
