Former Gobbler winning awards at Kingsville

RICHARDSON - Texas A&M-Kingsville wide receiver Robert Armstrong was named the Lone Star Conference offensive Player of the Week.

Armstrong, a sophomore from Cuero, scored the final two touchdowns for the Javelinas in their season-opening 21-10 win at Central Washington on Friday.

Armstrong caught a 15-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. He scored A&M-Kingsville's final touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 4-yard run. He also had two other runs on the scoring drive.

The Javelinas moved from No. 7 to No. 6 in the weekly American Football Coaches' Association poll.
