After a year or so of planning and strategizing, Victoria's new CBS affiliate hits the airwaves Monday.

CBS programming will be available in high definition on channel 41, KXTS, said Jeff Pryor, president and general manager of the Victoria Television Group.

Suddenlink Communications will air CBS in high definition on channel 109 and standard definition on channel 9.

"We're excited about the opportunity to offer another major network to the market, especially in high definition," Pryor said.

Saga Communications, the Victoria Television Group's parent company, worked out a deal with CBS syndication to introduce "Wheel of Fortune" in high definition, and add "Jeopardy" into the lineup, Pryor said.

Suddenlink Communications will continue to carry the KENS CBS affiliate and all of its programming, said Gene Regan, Suddenlink's director of corporate communications.

On Monday, Victoria Television group will host a reception with local advertisers to celebrate the premier, complete with a CBS cake, Pryor said.

"It's been a lot of work and a major expense to be able to bring this network to the people of our community," Pryor said. "We're excited about it and I hope they are, too."
