2 local students to compete in national tractor restoration event

Several students from area high schools have been selected as finalists in the 2011 Delo Tractor Restoration Competition.
Michaela Bram, 17, from Louise High School, and Kyle Day, 17, from Gonzales will go to the 84th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind.
Both are members of the Wheel Spinners Tractor Club.
All contestants to the Delo Tractor Restoration Competition will have to show a workbook outlining the whole restoration process including the mechanical overhauls of the engine, transmission and auxiliary and ancillary systems, to the external appearance of the tractors.
Projects will be presented on Oct. 19-20 with the champion crowned on the evening of Oct. 20. The grand prize winner(s) will receive $5,000.
