Discovery museum mixes recycling, art for kids

Sept. 23, 2011 at 4:23 a.m.

In conjunction with the city of Victoria's Environmental Services, "Green Scene" and Texas Recycles Day, Children's Discovery Museum is having a Recycled Art Project for kids, ages 4 to 9.

Children are encouraged to create an art project using recycled materials that would identify with one of the exhibits at the museum. It could be a 3-foot-tall dog that represents Paws & Claws Vet Clinic, or a Texas scene to go with Triple B Ranch. The project must be built with recycled materials that can be found around the house.

Projects can be no bigger than 24 inches wide and 3 feet tall due to space limitations and need to be dropped off at the museum between Nov. 7 and no later than Nov. 13 to be displayed throughout that week. Stop by the museum to pick up an entry form that will have size requirements and acceptable recyclable items for the entry, and check out the exhibits.

The Children's Discovery Museum of the Golden Crescent is located at 204 N. Main in Victoria.
