Sept. 29, 2011 at 4:29 a.m.
You can't always beat the odds when it comes to breast cancer, but Citizens Medical Center is giving people the opportunity to play the odds with raising awareness.
Citizens' HealthWise is hosting its second annual breast cancer bunco event. Bunco is dice game that is all about luck and beating the odds.
At least 70 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in 2011 according to HealthWise.
Every $75 raised will give one free mammogram to uninsured and under-insured women.
One out of eight women will be diagnosed with an invasive breast cancer in their lifetime, according to the American Cancer Society.
The recommendation is that women begin routine mammogram screenings at age 40 and then every one to two years after that.
Participants in the bunco must be at least 21 years old. Prizes and refreshments will be available.
