Department of Public Safety troopers found $40,960 of suspected drug money during a traffic stop on Monday.

A trooper pulled over a Chevrolet Silverado pickup when he observed the driver fail to signal a turn while traveling south on U.S. 59 South at the state Highway 185 exit about 12:30 p.m., said DPS spokesman Trooper Gerald Bryant.

The trooper received permission to search the truck and found $40,960 concealed in the engine.

The driver, Neftali Julian Quiroga, 37, of McAllen, was arrested by troopers and charged with money laundering.
