Some Yoakum city offices to close for long-time employee's funeral

Some city of Yoakum offices will close temporarily Tuesday to allow workers to attend the funeral of longtime city employee Susie Gomez.
Gomez, who died Saturday at 60, worked in the Yoakum Police Department since 1974.
She began her career as a dispatcher and was was promoted to police chief's secretary, records clerk and municipal court bailiff.
Also involved in the community, Gomez coordinated the Blue Santa Program among other activities.
Yoakum City Hall, the Utility Office and the police department administrative office will be affected by the temporary closure.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 210 Schrimscher St., with Rev. Matthew Huehlefeld officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
