Shiloh Whetsel ran 8 yards for Refugio's final touchdown in the Bobcats' 36-35 Class 2A, Division II state championship game win over Cisco.

But Whetsel will play one more game before ending his high school football career.

The Refugio running back has been selected to play in the Texas High School Coaches Association's All-Star Football Game on Tuesday, July 31 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Whetsel will be joined on the South squad by Edna offensive lineman Mac Long, Cuero tight end/linebacker Colton Jacob and Gonzales linebacker Landon Lock.

Long has signed with the University of Houston, Jacob will play at Mary Hardin-Baylor, and Lock has signed with Eastern New Mexico.

The South squad will be coached by Mike Jinks of Cibilo Steele, and Hugh Sandifer of Abilene Wylie will coach the North team.

Austwell-Tivoli's Garek Duenez has been selected to play for the South squad in the THSCA's All-Star Basketball Game on Monday, July 30 at St. Mary's University's Bill Greehey Arena.

Brent Carr of Tatum will coach the South team and Tyler Helms of Idalou will coach the North squad.

The all-star games are held in conjunction with the THSCA's annual coaching school.
