World Book Night is an annual celebration designed to spread a love of reading and books. The event will be held in the U.S. as well as the U.K. and Ireland.

It will see tens of thousands of people go out into their communities to spread the joy and love of reading by giving out free World Book Night paperbacks.

When Peggy Titt, a Friend of Victoria Public Library, found out the books to be passed out were "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" she knew the best place to distribute them would be a women's shelter.

On Monday, April 23, The Restoration House Ministries located at 1204 N. Moody St. will be an official distribution point where Titt and friends will be handing out free copies of "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" a poetic and empowering novel by Maya Angelou.
