A Victoria man was arrested on suspicion of brandishing a knife and demanding money at a store in the 3100 block of Sam Houston Drive on Monday, officials said.

Joseph Chipps, 22, was charged with aggravated robbery after a store clerk at Family Dollar called police and gave a description of the suspect, his car and his direction after leaving the store, according to the arrest report.

Victoria police officers located Chipps in the 3700 block of Camellia Street about 8 p.m.

Chipps denied any involvement in the robbery. He said he was in the area trying to locate his brother's house, according to the arrest report.
