Another survivor of the fatal one-vehicle wreck in Goliad three weeks ago has been identified, officials said Tuesday.

Department of Public Safety Sgt. Jonathon Christian confirmed the identity of Tomas Zepeda-Chumil, 29, of Guatemala, who was one of 23 illegal immigrants in the July 22 wreck on U.S. Highway 59 near Berclair that killed 15 and injured eight.

The group was being smuggled into the United States.

They were traveling north on U.S. Highway 59 in a 2000 Ford F-250 when the vehicle's front right tire de-treaded and the vehicle struck a tree.

Zepeda-Chumil, a patient of San Antonio University Hospital, was the only survivor to not be identified following the wreck.

Only one person, a deceased woman, remains unidentified.
