Thieves lifted more than $33,000 worth of lawn care equipment from the Victoria Parks and Recreation Department over the weekend.

Police said two utility trailers, two Scag Tiger Cat zero turn mowers, one Bad Boy Pup zero turn mower, two Echo backpack blowers, one Echo hand blower, five Echo trimmers, three Echo edgers, one Ariens push lawnmower, one Echo pole saw and two Stihl 16-inch chainsaws were reported stolen from a storage shed at the 400 block of McCright Drive between Friday night and Saturday morning.

"That's a lot of equipment they're going to have to replace," Sgt. Eline Moya, a spokesperson for the Victoria Police Department, said.

She did not know how thieves broke in or whether city departments have been burglarized before.
