Red Cross volunteers from the Crossroads area haven't received orders to go to Tampa, Fla. to help with Tropical Storm Isaac relief yet, but that could change, said Danny Resendez, the nonprofit's communications specialist.

Of the 70 volunteers in this 50-county region, Red Cross deployed eight to Tampa - two from Harlingen, two from Beaumont, three from Houston and one from Corpus Christi as of Monday afternoon, Resendez said.

The agency is asking volunteers to update their availability online and pick three areas they'd like to help with, such as sheltering, driving emergency vehicles and serving out of feeding trucks, he said.
