A 52-year-old Arkansas man died Thursday night in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 87 that also sent an injured Port Lavaca man to a hospital.

Steven Todd Williams, of Monette, Ark., died at the Memorial Medical Center in Port Lavaca after the 9 p.m. accident near Farm-to-Market Road 2433, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety report.

Williams was traveling south in a 2011 GMC pickup when a northbound 1992 Chevrolet pickup driven by Gabriel Tovar, of Port Lavaca, veered into the median and crashed into Williams' vehicle, according to the DPS.

Tovar was in stable condition with a broken arm, a broken pelvis and broken leg at Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi, according to the DPS.

Both men were wearing seat belts, officials said.

The investigation is ongoing, but no charges have been filed as of Friday night, said DPS spokesman Trooper Gerald Bryant.
