A HUGE thumbs-up to the Rev. Fred Hobbs and his wonderful congregation at Mt. Nebo Church! They held a wonderful Teacher Appreciation program the evening of Aug. 29. We enjoyed it very much.

Thumbs-down to the sign in the corner of Stanley and Navarro Streets that is promoting hate. This Psalm 109 Verse 8 is not a wish to stop his re-election, but a wish for his death. The following verse reads: "May his children be orphans and his wife a widow." The issue is invoking the God in whom any of us believe, to act as executioner of those who we disagree. So instead of praying for Obama, we need to pray for the one who put that evil sign up. God does not want us to hate. He wants us to love.

Thumbs-down to the two racists who were thrown out of the Republican National Convention for throwing peanuts at a black female CNN reporter and saying, "This Is How We Feed Animals." Remember that folks when you go to the polls.
