PREP HOOPS ROUNDUP: West girls win twice at Gonzales tournament

GONZALES - The Victoria West girls scored two victories at the Gonzales tournament on Friday, beating Austin Reagan by 30 and edging El Paso Jefferson, 53-50.

Against Reagan, Mercedes Ellison led the way with 19 points, and Lauren Rodriguez contributed 14. The Warriors led 24-18 at halftime en route to a 64-34 victory.

The game against Jefferson was close the whole way. The two teams were tied at the half, at 30-30. Ellison had 14 points and Rodriguez led the team with 17 points, while Allyson Dlouhy contributed 16 points during Friday's game.

• SCHULENBURG 61, FAITH ACADEMY 42: Courtne Grevey led the Lady Cougars with 18 points and Sarah Alex added 15, but Faith Academy couldn't keep up with Schulenburg, which got points from everyone at the Tigerette tournament.

•  YOAKUM 59, FAITH ACADEMY 56: Sarah Alex led all scorers with 25 points, but the Class 3A Lady Bulldogs got double figures from Latrice Brown and Celine Markert to edge the Lady Cougars.

•  EL CAMPO 61, FAITH ACADEMY 45: Amy Pflughaupt of the Ladybirds led all scorers with 19 points, as El Campo beat the Lady Cougars. Faith Academy's Courtne Grevey had 17 points and Sarah Alex added 15.


• FAITH ACADEMY 87, BAYTOWN CHRISTIAN 37: Geoff Graff and Jonathan Luck each had 21 for the Cougars at the Living Stones Tournament in Alvin.

• FAITH ACADEMY 76, BRAZOSPORT CHRISTIAN 34: Geoff Graff led all scorers with 19 points, and Jacob Nunez chipped in 14 as the Cougars cruised to a win.

•  ANGLETON 73, VICTORIA EAST 37: Trevon Ramey led the Titans with 11 points in the loss at the Sweeny Tournament.

• VICTORIA EAST 61, WHARTON 53: Jalen Wilson had 13 points for the Titans, and Christian Herring added 12 on two 3-pointers as the Titans won their second game at the Sweeny tournament.

• ST. JOSEPH 57, NEEDVILLE 48: Cody Janak led all scorers with 20 points and Jerry Vasquez added 13.

•  CUERO 46, ST. JOSEPH 36: Cody Janak led all scorers with 19 in the loss.
