Republicans should say 'yes' with conditions

Editor, the Advocate:
I'm a Republican who thinks that my party's leadership is stupid. We have become the party of "no" and have been on the defensive for four years. We need to lob the ball into the President's court with the following approach: Let Obama have all the tax increases he wants for the highest earners, a capital gains increase, the Buffett rule, and increases in the estate tax if he will agree to the following: 1 - A freeze on federal employee salaries (except active duty military). 2 - A freeze on Medicare reimbursements. 3 - An increase in the age Medicare and Social Security kick in for those that are 55 years or younger. 4 - A 1 percent decrease per year in discretionary and entitlement spending each year until a balanced budget is reached. 5 - A 1 percent decrease per year for any Federal employee making more than $100,000 per year until a balanced budget is reached (Congress, executive and judicial branches included). 6 - No new stimulus spending. If President Obama rejects these conditions he will be the one taking us over the "fiscal cliff." We cannot just tax our way out of our problems. Our country (USA, Inc.) is broke!
