Student wins art awards

Zachary Schumaker, a fifth-grade student at Jackson Roosevelt Elementary School in Port Lavaca, shows off his reserve grand champion and first-place ribbon for his volcano,  and second-place ribbon for his landscape drawing. He received the awards at the Calhoun County Youth Fair, which was Oct. 16-21. He is the son of Heather Schumaker, of Port Lavaca, and Ronny and Carol Schumaker, of Lolita.
