More than 600 customers lost electricity early Monday evening, causing American Electric Power employees to work for hours to restore electricity.
The power outage started about 5:30 p.m. near residences near Gold's Gym on North Navarro, when 680 residential and commercial customers lost power, said AEP spokesman Elgin Janssen.
The outage appeared to be caused by flocks of grackles hanging on the line, Janssen said, disrupting power for about three hours Monday evening. The birds flock and roost on the lines near one of the main breakers on Loop 463 and North Navarro, and their movements on the line may have knocked out the power.
The electric company restored power to all of their customers by about 8:30 p.m., Janssen said.
