West Nile made itself prevalent in Crossroads

West Nile was responsible for two Crossroads deaths in 2012.
The Texas Department of State Health Services reported one death in Victoria County and another in Wharton County.
In all, the Crossroads had eight confirmed cases, including the two deaths. Calhoun County reported one death, DeWitt, 2; Lavaca, 1; Victoria, 2 and Wharton, 2, according to the state health department.
Audrey Geffert, a life-long Victoria resident who was a founding member of the Golden Crescent's branch of the nonprofit Court Appointed Special Advocates, died in August after contracting the disease while visiting family in Dallas.
