Auditions set for 'On Golden Pond'
Dec. 30, 2012 at 6:30 a.m.
Auditions for "On Golden Pond," the 2013 spring production at the Shiner Gaslight Dinner Theatre, are scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan. 7 and Jan. 8 at the theater on the corner of Seventh Street and Avenue D in downtown Shiner.
Maureen Bucek will direct the story of universal family struggles all set in a cabin situated on Golden Pond.
The loons provide a haunting background call as the clash of age, rage, love withheld, love unspoken and forgiveness and renewal all play out on the historic Gaslight stage.
Auditions will be for six characters: Norman Thayer, a 79-year-old cantankerous grandfather; Ethel Thayer, Norman's 69-year-old wife; Charlie Martin, a 44-year-old mailman; Chelsea Thayer, a fortyish somewhat-estranged daughter; Bill Ray, Chelsea's fortyish boyfriend; and Billy Ray, Bill's 13-year-old son.
Performances are tentatively scheduled for the first, second and third weekends in April. Log onto shinergaslight.org for theater information.
