Crossroads residents are ringing in the New Year with more than champagne and a New Year's Eve ball drop.

They're predicting 2013 will be filled with prosperity and personal achievements, both in the area and around the globe.

Below are what some Victorians are looking forward to in the New Year.

"I expect next year to be peaceful and prosperous. I'm a Christian, and I devote all my time to Jesus, so I hope to continue growing my relationship with God."

"I want to simplify life because it's so hectic. We could all do better at paying attention to what matters, like our kids, our jobs and our health."

Billy Spencer, health unit coordinator, Victoria

"I want to get married. I want to find someone rich and funny. I also want to open my own restaurant franchise,"

Jose Garza, Formosa, Victoria

"I want to get in better shape, which I've been working on this year. I want to get in my ideal shape, which is a size 12."

Cecilia Lopez, Caterpillar, Victoria

"I want to get a better job." Linda Blackwell, medical assistant, Victoria

"Honestly, I think the government is about to try and take away all of our guns, and I don't think that should happen. So if I need to, this coming year, I'll probably start a protest against that because I like my guns, and I don't think anyone should take those away."
